TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH
Philosophy of Ministry

Our philosophy is that we are to be witnesses of Christ to the people in our immediate contact. This is done by sharing the "Good News" of salvation with those who already believe and those who have not yet been brought to faith. This is accomplished when those who are already members of the body of Christ share their faith in word and deed following the Great Commission which our Lord has charged us to keep. The Word is to be preached to strengthen believers and develop Christian stewards.

We feel, therefore, that the purpose of our church is to preach the Word and administer the Sacraments to our selves and our community. Also, we are to bring others to this knowledge of the Savior and continue to equip them with the Word.

We are a friendly caring fellowship with an atmosphere allowing for many opportunities to serve the Lord and our neighbors. We serve Jackson, Dekalb, North Western Marshall and North Eastern Madison counties of Alabama. As a matter of fact, we are the only Lutheran Church between Huntsville and Chattanooga, Tenn. We consist of both young and old, single and married, widowed and divorced believers of Christ. Many of the other believers in our area are members of main line denominations in much larger churches.

Our priorities are:

1. To preach the Word and administer the Sacraments.

2. To witness and evangelize to those who are separated from God.

3. To witness to and joyfully nurture the fellowship of believers

4. To nurture a positive attitude in the area of Christian stewardship so that we may become increasingly aware of how to better use our time, talents, and treasures for the Lord.

We will accomplish this by:

1. Developing an on going program of meaningful and varied Worship Services, involving all our members in Sunday School, providing several types of Bible studies during the week, and having Vacation Bible School. We will provide for Communion within the church and administer the sacraments outside of the church by seeking out those who are in need.

2. Expecting our Pastor and fellowship to visit members and nonmembers, particularly searching for those who have not been brought to faith. Welcoming those who are new to our community by phone, letter or visit. Developing a counseling capability to reach out to the community.

3. Establishing prayer groups to pray not just for our family, but for all in need. Providing for socials within the church to build fellowship and joy among the members. Creating one or more cell groups to provide support to each other in and out of the church. Providing adult youth advisors and encourage the youth to develop programs of service ministry.

4. Equip our members to joyfully and effectively accomplish the Lord’s work. Teaching with accountability unto God and to each other. Encourage each member to tithe and faithfully attend worship services.

5. Keep our members abreast of Trinity Lutheran activities via a Monthly Calendar and Monthly Bulletin
